I am honoured to have been appointed by the Prime Minister as Parliamentary Secretary for the Arts.

My passion for the arts began as a teenager, while helping in my late mother’s art gallery next to Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne. It was also there that I met many great actors who attended and often opened exhibitions at the Gallery.

“Bigotry spewed out by Saudi extremist preacher Dr al-Sudais was un-Australian,” Michael Danby the Federal Member for Melbourne Ports said today.

When condemning the Anti-Jewish prejudice ascribed to the Saudi Islamist Michael Danby released a letter from the Immigration Minister the Hon. Brendan O’Connor to the Shadow Minister for Immigration (see attached letter) Danby revealed: Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais has not lodged a visa application for Australia!

Michael Danby today slammed Bernie Ecclestone’s suggestions that Melbourne should keep the Grand Prix at Albert Park for a further 50 years.

“Enough is enough! For too long we’ve put up with the inconvenience and the cost blow-outs to the race in Albert Park,” Mr Danby said.

Mr Danby said he was originally open-minded about the Grand Prix but his experience had changed his mind.

 

Even more chances to vote at this year’s Federal Election

An additional early voting centre, with extended opening hours has been requested for the voters of Melbourne Ports, Federal MP Michael Danby announced today.

Mr Danby said that given the election date coincided with Yom Kippur, some local residents’ fear they could be disenfranchised and unable to participate in the election.

“It’s important that everyone has the chance to cast their vote at the next election, I know many appreciate Australia’s democracy. I want to ensure they get to cast their vote,” Mr Danby said.
